The Crystal Skull and Anna MItchell-Hedges

00:00:59

1924 - Lubaantun, Belize - Anna Mitchell-Hedges discovers a Crystal Skull under a collapsed altar inside a Mayan temple. It becomes known as the Skull of Doom, when Mayans tell Anna that the skull was used by the High Priests to curse someone with death. Despite traces of mechanical grinding, some believe the skull is 12,000 years old and that it was chiseled into its rough form before being polished with sand for 150 to 300 years. After an archaeologist reports that the holes show signs of metal drilling, further tests on the skull are denied. During the New Age movement, crystal skulls claim to exhibit paranormal phenomena. So, Anna takes the Skull of Doom on tour, granting interviews with her treasured artifact until her death. Modern tests confirm that the skull was carved in the 1930s, and documents prove that Anna’s father, F.A. Mitchell-Hedges, bought the skull in London in 1943... 19 years after its alleged discovery.
