The purse evolves with a sturdy base and two long straps; mesh and metal bags create a stir, followed by the luggage bag, or “handbag”. Louis Vuitton launches the Noe Bag, and in 1941 Coach is founded by six leather artisans. Coco Chanel designs a purse with details that are still current and calls it the ‘255’ for it’s birthday. Heiress Miuccia Prada Re-Brands the company and the Kors collection debuts. The fanny pack takes over before the Hobo Bag gains popularity. In 2010, Guinness certifies the most expensive purse in the world. Today there are over 62,000 purse companies worldwide with a combined annual revenue over one hundred billion dollars.
