Dr- Seuss - Epic Artist Series - Children's Book Legends

00:01:00

Theodor Seuss Geisel is born in Springfield, Massachusetts. At twenty one, he publishes his first cartoon under the pen name “Dr. Seuss”; his mother’s maiden name, pronounced ‘Zoice!’. Theodor marries and begins working as an illustrator for Standard Oil. Unable to have kids, he creates children’s books, full of colorful characters. After many failed attempts, he finally publishes his first book and then begins a career as a political cartoonist. Too old for the draft, he serves his country by making animated training films and propaganda posters. Dr. Seuss writes, “If I Ran The Zoo”, where the word “nerd” is introduced. “Cat in the Hat” and “How the Grinch Stole Christmas” are instant classics, as is “Green Eggs and Ham”, written as a bet using only fifty different words. ‘The Grinch’ is adapted for television and becomes a holiday family tradition. “Oh, the Places You’ll Go” is the final book Dr. Seuss publishes before he dies at the age of 87. Today, his work can be seen in movies, books and art galleries worldwide.
