November 11th is celebrated globally as Armistice Day or Remembrance Day, with parades and public meetings along with a brief suspension of business beginning at 11:00am. In the aftermath of World War II, veteran Raymond Weeks leads a movement in the United States to expand the holiday to celebrate all veterans. Eight years later, Weeks is recognized as the ‘Father of Veterans Day’ when President Eisenhower signs the bill that renames Armistice Day to Veterans Day.
