George Carlin

00:00:59

Presenting the rebel philosopher masquerading as standup comic, it’s George Carlin! In 1940s Manhattan, George’s comedy legacy begins in elementary school. His class clown antics extends to his service in the US Air Force, where he lands himself three court martials. Playing it safe, George enters show business where he entertains America with his goofy, yet sterile, humor. Unhappy with the charade, he embraces his true identity within the ‘60s counterculture and comes back swinging. No longer the class clown, George lampoons the status quo with hits like “7 Dirty Words You Can’t Say On Television” and “The Planet Is Fine”. No topic is sacred and he spares no one from exposure. His relentless honesty on stage endures until his death in 2008. Modern standup comedy and its audience remain indebted to his litany of satire.
